District 16 Conference 18-20 September 2015

Embracing the Membership Challenge With Conviction, Commitment and Courage

Biennium Goals International District One more club per District annually and less than 5% club disbandment District One new club chartered in the biennium Growing our membership is on the agenda for every club A younger and ethnically diverse membership

The membership picture. As at end August membership numbers starting to build again

What does that mean? As at 1st July we were in about the same position as last year As at 30th August our membership numbers are starting to build again A challenge is to keep building our clubs and District membership

New membership manual http://www.zonta.org/Portals/0/PDFs/MembershipManual.pdf

New membership manual

What works? Attractive public events for visibility Club membership comprising a variety of professions and ages for networking Involving new members in work from the beginning Offering inspiring club meetings Feedback from the May 2015 Zontian magazine from 36 clubs that had gained more than 10 members since May 2014 Echoed by the District 16 clubs who have had success in growing their membership

What works? Well run (dynamic) meetings with interesting speakers Maintaining a balance between fundraising, service and fellowship Maintaining a profile in our local community Keep it fun and interesting so people want to join Feedback District 16 Area forum in 2014

Member Satisfaction Survey In the June 2014 member Satisfaction Survey, members responded with the following regarding meetings they attended 24% did NOT find the meetings vital with the right topics 19.4% indicated that their meetings were NOT interesting and engaging 17.9% did NOT find meetings organised and well-executed

The membership challenge At the Area Forums I put out a challenge for every member to “Just ask one” person to join Zonta Imagine if every Zontian in District 16, all 660 of us, asked one person to join their club...

The membership challenge ...now imagine how much more Zonta could do and how many more women and girls would benefit! Putting my money where my mouth is…. Sue Hobbs inducted into the Zonta Club of Hibiscus Coast in July
