1 Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak to you today
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak to you today. Today I want to focus on Zonta’s goals and accomplishments, and how your contributions help Zonta change the lives of women and girls around the world.

2 Zonta International Foundation
Change a life today! Many of you are familiar with our foundation’s mission, but just to reiterate …….. The Zonta International Foundation supports the approved charitable and educational programs of Zonta International. The Foundation was established in 1984 and incorporated in The Foundation is governed by the officers and directors that Zonta members elect at the international convention.

3 Zonta International Foundation Funding
Funds the charitable and education programs of Zonta International. Contributions go entirely to program support and development. Zonta International membership dues support operating expenses. The Foundation’s revenues come from donations from Zonta Clubs, Zontians, and friends of Zonta. Because dues from Zonta International support the operating costs of the foundation, 100% of the contributions made to the foundation can go directly into program support. Remember, dues are not donations.

4 Fundraising Goal US$5,306,000 For the current biennium our fundraising goal is US$ 5,306,000. These funds will be allocated to support projects during the biennium. Our goal is $200,000 more than previous biennium, so we have some work to do! At the 2014 Convention, Zontians made the decision that sustainable change can be achieved through awareness and prevention of root causes via education. During the Biennium, and with Conviction, Commitment and Courage, we will: • Empower women and help them to reach their full potential through effective mission-focused performance, lasting impact of programs and projects, and membership growth. • Strengthen our leading role in women’s issues through active participation in the Beijing 20 process, launched in May 2014 as a defining framework for change, and in the UN Post-2015 Agenda which represents the intensification of the efforts of the global community to accomplish the eight Millennium Development Goals. • Address root causes and focus on prevention through education to change attitudes in men and women. *ZISVAW: Zonta International Strategies to End Violence Against Women

5 As you can see from this chart, as of the end of August, we Zontians have raised over $2,800,000 or a little over 48% of our goal. Let’s pause for a moment…… what was that again? OVER $2,800,000 –IN JUST OVER 1 YEAR!! Let’s give ourselves a hand for that accomplishment!! (clap clap clap)

6 How does our District 12 stand in comparison to other Districts in the world with ZIF contributions?
As of July, we rank 15th out of 33. This is the same ranking as last biennium. In fact our District total contributions are only 1.3% less than this time in the last biennium.

7 In District 12, we have 21 Clubs, and 19 of those Clubs have made contributions to ZIF to date. That is over 90% of Clubs – and That is an amazing $71, as of July! One of our goals in 100% Club Participation this biennium -- we will make it!

8 How are we doing individually with contributions
How are we doing individually with contributions? We are proud to point out that worldwide, our District 12 is 2nd only to District 31 in individual contributions! out of 521 members have given an individual donation to ZIF -- Over 37% of our members! Now that deserves a hand! (clap clap clap) Our goal is 100% of our members donating to ZIF. This November is the “Every Member, Every November” campaign where each Club in our District will be encouraged to meet this goal & call it “done and done”. After this November, District 12 can be #1 in individual donations in the world. We’ll make it with your help and your commitment!

9 Prevention of Root Causes Through Education
Prevention of Root Causes Through Education Gender-based discrimination and violence against women are often rooted in misinterpretations of history, inadequate laws, culture and religion, but they can also be based on social structures and traditional ideas of feminine and masculine identities. Sustainable change can be achieved through awareness and prevention of root causes via education. Go to Gmail and pull up newsletter.
