Welcome to Year 1

Uniform Labels: please label all uniform Shirts: tucked in, top button done up. Correct school coat: duffel coat, black coat with school badge, blazer with school badge. Jewellery: only gold stud earrings. Hair: long hair must be tied back with a grey, white, yellow, or black hairband. No beads.

PE Wednesday and Friday Yellow polo shirt with school logo Black shorts Black plimsolls (indoor PE) Trainers (outdoor PE) Black tracksuit (Winter-only you can put it in the PE kit) Your child needs socks to change into if they are wearing tights The PE kit stays at school and goes home at half term

Clothing and bags ALL school clothes, PE kit, reading bags and water bottles need labels Please teach your child how to put their tie on

Reading Please listen to your child read every night Ask questions to assess their understanding of the text. If your child cannot show secure understanding or recall of the text, they will continue with the same book. Reading in school is twice per week Some children will have individual reading each day. Books will be changed twice a week unless they are individual readers, but only if there is a parent signature to show they are reading at home.

Homework Homework: reading (daily), spelling high frequency words (HFW), handwriting and/or times tables Children will given spellings to learn (HFW: high frequency words) each week on Friday and tested during the following week in school Other homework will be issued when relevant

General Labelled water bottles: should be brought in from home each day and taken home in the evening Collection: Please inform the class teacher or the office if someone else will be collecting your child Questions: It is not always possible to speak at the beginning of the day, any questions or queries can be discussed at the end of the day or you can request an appointment with the office Parents evening: October
