3 ROUTINES Check your child’s book bag EVERY DAY!
Drop off your child after 8:40am School starts at 8:50 am Playtime – healthy snack (in bookbag!) Water bottles (with sports top please) Lunchtimes – hot lunch option or healthy packed lunch Collect and drop off your child from playground gate Children have settled in well and are getting used to the daily classroom routines now. Here are just a few reminders.

SCHOOL UNIFORM Well done – your children all look very smart! Black school shoes need to be worn at all times School v-neck jumper/cardigan with school logo ONLY White shirt ONLY with top button done up! School tie with house colours No nail varnish or jewellery Hair needs to be tied back at all times All items of uniform need to be clearly named Remind parents that if child is not in (complete) uniform for a good reason, the teacher needs to be informed in writing! Earrings: PE on Mondays, games on Thursdays. Bags: use FCJS or similar school bag AND PE bag, due to space restrictions PE kit: In particular girls need extra socks in their PE bag in case they are wearing tights. Trainers: only laces if chn can actually lace up their own shoes  practice at home!! Might want to mention plimsoles at this point. Optional for PE/games in the hall. Otherwise bare feet.

5 PE KIT The following items should be at school every day!
School Polo Shirt with house colours Red shorts (shadow stripe) Socks – Long red with white stripe AND short white sport socks Black tracksuit Trainers (preferably velcro) – plimsoles optional Shinpads if playing football All items need to be clearly named Earrings – should only be simple studs and if possible, not worn on PE days. If this is not possible, please provide microporous tape. PE kit will go home on Fridays (to wash) and must return on Mondays Remind parents that if child is not in (complete) uniform for a good reason, the teacher needs to be informed in writing! 8 HOMEWORK Extending your child’s learning opportunities
Relevant and purposeful Daily reading at home (by Friday 21st Sept) Please sign & date your child’s Reading Record book Please indicate clearly when a book is FINISHED Times tables practice (Card) Literacy: hand out on Tuesday  hand in on Thursday Numeracy: hand out on Friday  hand in on Monday (Starts after half term) 20 minutes of focussed work!! Remind parents (& children) that this is their part in the team work. Parents should be hearing their children read daily, practising timestables with them and encouraging them to do their homework to a high standard. Homework is also set to gradually prepare them for secondary school. (Y3 2 days/week, Y4 3 days/week, Y5 4 days/week, Y6 5 days/week) Spelling – Monday Literacy: Tuesday  hand in Thursday Numeracy: Thursday  hand in Monday

9 PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT Changing bookbags – every morning
Individual reading – start of school day (Tu, Th, F) Times Tables Testing – start of school day (Tu, Th, F) Class Representative (communication) Further opportunities in and out of the classroom (school trips, knowledge & skills) Parent Forums PTA Class Rep: collect communication details of all parents in class and is link between teacher and class and also PTA and class. Any parent with specific knowledge or skills related to our topics and willing to come in to speak to the class would be VERY welcome!!! PTA – providing drinks and biscuits Thank you for everyone who has volunteered. Please stay at the end so we can assign days that suit.

11 Reminder The children need a photograph of themselves with their chosen person (or animal) in school by Friday. It should be at least 4”x6” and preferably colour.
