4 Welcome to Class 3

5 Welcome to Class 3 When the children arrive, please wait in the main playground until the bell goes at 8.45am. Children then line up ready to enter school. Please be prompt when bringing and collecting your child. If you need to speak to me I will be available before and after school to help you. If I am not available I can always organise a different appointment time.

6 We give medicine which has been prescribed 3 or 4 times daily
We give medicine which has been prescribed 3 or 4 times daily. We can give inhalers as required. A medicine form must be filled in and signed by a parent/guardian and given to Mrs Woodcock in the infant building Reception. Clearly name all clothes. Look in the lost property box and other cloakrooms for lost items. Please return any clothes we loan to your child. They are clearly labelled.

7 Please check book bags daily for letters.
Please try to give out party invitations before or after school. Reading books are changed Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please bring book bags and books every day. No jewellery is allowed except small ear studs in pierced ears and a watch for YEAR 2 children.

8 We have a small number of whole school Golden Rules
We have a small number of whole school Golden Rules. These are as follows: We are helpful and act kindly. We always tell the truth. We do not hurt each other. We work hard every day. We care for, and look after, the school and our environment. We listen well and don’t interrupt. We are polite and well mannered.

9 PE Kit- White t-shirt and black shorts. Pumps or trainers for outdoor PE please. Long hair should be tied back (spare bobble in PE bag please), earrings removed or taped up with micro pore tape which your child should keep in their own PE bag. Your child needs to be able to tape their ears independently. Rewards- We constantly reward positive behaviour in class 3. Children can collect merits on their stamp card which allows them to get certificates. We also hand out ‘golden tickets’ throughout the week when the child has been caught doing something positive. These tickets are collected and a prize draw happens at the end of the week and then a final infant build prize draw at the end of every half term.

10 Reading and Spellings Children will be bringing home a reading record book for them to record the books they have read. Please comment about your child's reading in these booklets. We encourage children at year 2 to use these independently. Children will bring home words to spell weekly and maths homework for Year 1 weekly and Y2 fortnightly. Please support your child to ensure this work is completed. Library Children will be borrowing a book from the school library which they will bring home. Our library day is a Thursday so please return the book the following Thursday. Food – Our school is part of the ‘5-a-day’ project and the children receive fresh fruit every day. This is free. We are a healthy school so please do not send rock or sweets after your holiday – we are just glad to see you back! Birthdays are a special occasion and we are happy to share a cake or buns with the other children as a birthday treat. Water bottles should be brought to school full of water (no juice allowed) daily. We will refill your child’s water bottle if needed and send it home each night.

11 Other Information Medical forms can be collected from the parent’s information board in class or from the reception. No cars down the school drive please for the safety of the children. You will receive a weekly newsletter. School events and educational visits-We do need your support for these events. If you can help at any event e.g. disco then please see Mrs. Woodcock or Mrs Screaton. If you are available to help on a visit please let me know. If you would like to come in and help in the classroom or if you have any skills that you could share with us e.g. sewing, cooking, playing a musical instrument – please come and tell me!

12 Thank you
