Learning Map for Blue Class: Autumn 1 Humans Vs Dinosaurs Children to create a story about a known setting applying their story writing skills. Punctuation focus: full stops, capital letters, exclamation marks, question marks, commas for lists and apostrophes for contracted forms i.e. ‘isn’t.’ Silly stuff: Poetry Children to create a silly poem. Children to explore different poems. Children to identify features of a poem. Children to use appropriate features when poetry writing i.e. ‘rhyming’ and ‘verses’ Phonics and speaking and listening Phonics: Children to develop knowledge of phonics through reading aloud and with peers. Present and past tense work. Dinosaur phonics. Children to learn how to decode and recognise words through blending and segmenting sounds. Children to develop and focus on grammar through reading, writing and speaking. David Learn about who David was and his importance to Christians. Learn and understand David’s relationship with God. Make comparisons with different religious people.
