Phonics – continuing to learn about letter patters and alternative pronunciations and spellings. Applying our phonics skills to our reading in order to develop fluency and accuracy when reading aloud and in our heads. Developing our speaking and listening skills through role-play activities linked to the story of The Lion King. Reading for pleasure and enjoyment. Using connectives. Building our vocabulary when exploring the story of The Lion King and Handa’s Surprise and using WOW words in our writing. Writing for a range of purposes, including writing letters to children in Tanzania. An African Adventure Maths Counting in groups of 2, 5 and 10 starting from any number, forwards and backwards. Recognising a multiple. Ordering and comparing numbers to Writing numbers as numerals. Consolidating number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. Using a number fact to derive new facts and creating fact families. Solving calculations involving missing numbers. Understanding the value of any number in a 2 digit number by partitioning.
