FTA Funding The FAST Act authorizes $61.1 billion over the five fiscal years (FY) 2016 through 2020 for programs administered by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) The law authorizes $11.8 billion for public transit programs in FY 2016, and increases the total authorization to $12.6 billion in FY 2020

Section 5305 Provides funding for MPOs, statewide planning, and nonmetropolitan transportation planning at 80/20 MPO funds are distributed annually to MPOs based on an FHWA- approved formula Statewide/nonmetropolitan planning funds are used for discretionary projects Service planning Transit development plans

Section 5305 FY 2018 awards Metropolitan planning: $439,181 Statewide/nonmetropolitan planning: City of Las Cruces and South Central RTD: $100,000 for Short Range Transit Service Planning North Central RTD: $100,000 for 5 year Service Plan update
