Q: What campus staff will be involved in collecting and reporting CTE assessment results? A: It is logical to assume that academic units and/or testing center staff will be involved in collecting the student information to be reported and that IR staff will be involved in reporting this information into AHEIS. Each campus will be different and must develop a procedure based on local conditions How many students and assessments must be reported? All students taking a technical skill assessment for which the institution received the results during the period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 must be reported. Institutions are not required to report assessments for which they did not receive results. Must students who failed the assessment be reported? How will ADHE know if failing students are reported or not? All students taking a technical skill assessment for which the institution received the results during the period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 2 must be reported. This includes students who failed the assessment. ADHE will review assessment results during compliance visits. How are students reported that take more than one assessment? The student is reported only once during a reporting period so report the most positive result available. This could be two different assessments or different sections of a single assessment. This determination will be at the discretion of the school. How do I report students that have already graduated? All students taking a technical skill assessment for which the institution received the results during the period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 must be reported. This may include students who have already exited the institution. Report results RECEIVED during the time period, not when the student took the assessment. The approach recognizes that there are assessments which by design are taken after coursework is completed.

Q: What if I only have a couple of departments with standard/national assessments? A: These departments will be the starting point for the institution. ADHE is required to work with institutions to increase the number of assessments taken. ADHE must report: The number of CTE programs for which assessments are available. The number of students in those CTE programs for which assessments are available. The number and % of students who took an assessments. The number and % of students who passed an assessment. How should a student be reported if the assessment result is not reported to the school? All students taking a technical skill assessment for which the institution received the results during the period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 must be reported. The institution should request results from students if the result is not reported to the institution. However, the institution will not be penalized for its inability to retrieve these results. If results are obtained form the student, the institution must have documentation supporting the result reported into AHEIS. What assessments are eligible for reporting? A list of eligible assessments is found in the Student Information System Perkins II section. All CTE assessment results are to be reported in the Perkins Annual File. The list of eligible assessments currently found in AHEIS is not exhaustive. If an assessment is to be reported that is not on the list, code it as other and let Brinda Berry know so that it can be added.

Q: What if my assessment is not on your list? A: ADHE will be working with institutions to refine the list during 20011-2012. When does this start? Collection of results began in 2011. Current reporting of results begins with the Perkins Annual File II that is due August XX, 2018. Can a local assessment be developed? Yes, but with restrictions. GPA or something similar cannot be reported. Q. Is this a permanent reporting requirement? A. It is not required under Perkins V but may be added as a supplemental report if there is continued interest in having this information for use at the state/local level.
