An Audit Checklist has been drafted by Libby Self, Executive Director of Audit Services, and her team of auditors.

The following three slides list the topics from the current draft audit checklist(s). Once the draft has been finalized, it will be sent to all colleges.

Is student a High School Junior or Senior? Specify one. 2.
Primary Curriculum Code 3.
Secondary Code (enter NA if not applicable) 4.

POS Approval Date 6.
If student is in more than one approved POS; enter the name of each approved POS and approval date; otherwise enter N/A. 7.

8. Coding Reminders for CCP Students
Auditors are checking student codes with their transcripts to verify students are coded in the correct pathway.
CCP students should only be enrolled courses in their chosen (coded) pathway/program of study.
CCP students can enroll in two programs of study (with permission) but may not substitute courses in one program for courses in another.

9. Coding Reminders for CCP Students
Students who are given permission to enroll in two pathways will have a primary pathway code and a secondary pathway code.
CCP students granted permission to be in two pathways should have written documentation included in their student file (document that is signed and dated by the Chief Academic Officer stating permission granted and what pathways the student is taking).

10. Gen Ed in CTE Pathways
If you want to include Gen Ed in your CTE pathway…
General education courses can be included in CTE pathways…However, students must be eligible to take general education courses by meeting pre-reqs and/or testing college ready. This could decrease enrollment if your CTE students have to pass college readiness tests to enter the pathway.
General education courses should “make sense” in the pathway and not be an added course for the sake of including a general education course.
All pathways must still meet curriculum standard requirements and must be submitted to the System Office for approval prior to offering them to students.

11. Continuing Education Courses and High School Students
Can high school students take continuing education courses?
High school students 16 years and older may be permitted to take non-credit courses, except adult basic skills, subject to rules promulgated by the State Board of Community Colleges. (GS 115D-20/SBCC Code)
A separate continuing education class cannot be set up for high school students. Continuing education classes are open enrollment (open to the public and cannot be restricted to high school students only).

12. AP Credit
When will AP courses and Dual Credit courses carry the same weighted credit? Will this start with a certain upcoming freshman class or will it affect all students?
DPI anticipates Freshmen in 2015/16 to be impacted by the AP update. LEAs need lead time for communication.

13. AP Credit State Board of Education Meeting Highlights August 2014
“In the August meeting held this week in Raleigh, members of the State Board of Education approved changes to weighting for AP, IB, College and Honors courses.
Under the new policy, students will receive 5 quality points for earning an ‘A' in AP, IB and college courses, including dual enrollment and North Carolina community college transfer courses from the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement.
Students will receive 4.5 quality points for earning an ‘A' in honors courses and 4 quality points for A's earned in standard courses.
The changes in course weighting will be implemented starting with the freshman class entering the 9th grade in the school year and it will be phased in over the course of four years.
