National Media Company Products: EAP+Work/Life Disruptive Event Management Challenge: Onsite mental health support for news station employees affected by reporting of a local mass shooting incident

How we helped: Developed a customized strategy offering onsite counselors for group and individual grief counseling, and management consultation Delivered help onsite within 24 hours Onsite counselors facilitated group discussions for employees to discuss feelings Provided empathy and education regarding grief Helped normalize employees’ reactions to this abnormal event Provided additional individual support sessions as needed Reinforced the availability of personalized help through the EAP+Work/Life program for ongoing needs

Results: 84 employees and managers assisted: 60 employees seen in a group 16 individual sessions 8 management consultations Created environment of caring and understanding Received widespread, positive employee feedback This quick response: Enabled individuals to better cope with the incident Helped minimize disruption Restored productivity
