2 INTRODUCING YOUR Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
EAP is a short term confidential counseling program offered to DoD Civilians and family members at no cost Health and Human Services Federal Occupational Health (FOH), Provides you with a wide range of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services Help Federal agencies develop and maintain a high functioning and productive workforce Licensed counselors are available to help with difficult personal issues which can affect your home life and work Assistance with a wide range of concerns – relationships, legal, financial, family, substance abuse, children, and more THERE ARE NO ON-SITE COUNSELORS Employees are authorized administrative leave

3 NCR-MD EAP AVAILABLE SERVICES
Professional Counseling Master's-level, credentialed mental health counselors, including professional Counselors focus on prevention, early intervention, and practical resolution to life's challenges. Services include assess; short-term, solution-focused problem solving; referral to community resources; and monitoring and follow-up of progress during and after receiving assistance. Management Coaching and Consultation Master's level, credentialed mental health counselors provide coaching and consultation regarding concerns or issues related to an employee’s conduct or performance. Professionals provide coaching on how to communicate and refer employees to the EAP. Counselors also coach or consult with supervisors to assess interpersonal or organizational issues that may be affecting individual or group performance. Critical Incident Services: Counselors provide critical incident (CI) services to support employees who have experienced a traumatic event. The goal of a critical incident intervention is to minimize the potential impact of a traumatic event by helping employees return to normal productivity as quickly as possible. FOH CI intervention may include consultations; emotional first aid; stress management; debriefings; and/or meetings with witnesses, victims, or co-workers to assist in mitigating the impact.

Legal and Financial Services The EAP includes free consultation with licensed, practicing attorneys to provide assistance with a wide range of legal issues, such as divorce, living will preparation, and health care power of attorney. Qualified financial consultants provide telephonic consultation on general tax information, financial planning, investment strategies and family budgeting. The program also provides a suite of identity theft services, including information on how to prevent identity theft and consultation with specialists who provide support and guidance; forms; credit bureau contacts and step-by-step action plans. Drug-Free Workplace Under Executive Order 12564, the EAP was identified as key to the success of the Drug-Free Workplace (DFW) legislation. In this regard, the FOH EAP is an important partner in assisting Federal agencies in carrying out DFW mandates. The EAP educates employees and managers about substance abuse, assessing employees with potential substance abuse problems, identifies resources for treatment and rehabilitation for employees found to need them, and works with agencies to successfully transition employees back to the workplace. FOH maintains a staff specialized in DFW and substance abuse to work with and monitor cases so that agencies can meet the requirements of their DFW plans.
