Program Description EOPS/CARE The goal of EOPS is to identify persons that are socially , economically , and educationally disadvantaged, whom would consider themselves the least likely to attend college and assist them with the process of matriculation with support services to increase their opportunity for success in higher education . EOPS activates involve outreach/recruitment, retention services, and support in order to provide students the access and opportunity to attend college. Upon assistance into college and acceptance into the EOPS program students are given support services to help them be successful. These support services consist of academic counseling in creating a long term educational plan, priority registration, assistance with cost of books, staff support in assisting students with understanding various college information, assistance with completing the financial aid application, assistance with transfer, assistance with job placement and career interests and the use of equipment . Benchmarks Average GPA -2.81 (See Appendix A) Tutoring Services See Appendix B and C EOPS Tutoring hours increased by 47% since Fall 2009 MSP classes increased by 63% since Fall 2009 Individual/MSP number of students served increased by 59% since Spring 2010 Self Assessment EOPS conducts a survey at the end of each semester after the 3rd counseling contact According to EOPS Student Survey students are pleased with the program performance ( below are few statistics ) “Does the EOPS program help you achieve your educational goal?” Yes -99% No-1% “Would you recommend the EOPS program to friends/family? “ Yes – 100% No – 0% “I feel the counselor(s) cares about my success in school.” Extremely Agree – 86%, Agree – 11%, Neutral – 2% , Disagree – 0% Totally Disagree – 0%

Program -- Strengths Individualized academic support Academic Counseling Tutoring/Life-Skills Workshops (See Appendix B&C) Priority Registration Honor & Graduation Ceremony Individualized but limited financial support Assistance with cost of books Lending Library (See Appendix ) CARE – assistance with supplies, and other services such as monthly meal vouches and gas cards
