FOUR-YEAR PLANS High School Graduation Plans Foundation High School Program with Endorsements Planning begins in 8th grade! NBISD NGC September 2018

High School Graduation Plans My graduation plan is named the Foundation Graduation Plan with Endorsement. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. I will schedule an Grad Plan appointment with an ORMS Counselor using the Sign-Up Genius link. I must earn credits in specific subjects to graduate. I must also declare and plan to earn one endorsement to graduate. I will work on my grad plan with my parent/guardian.

High School Graduation Plans The Graduation plan and meeting will take place of the traditional registration process. The Foundation High School Program (FHSP) with endorsements is the default graduation program for all Texas public school students. All 8th graders in NBISD are automatically placed in this graduation plan during their 8th grade year.

A student must earn at least 26 credits to earn an endorsement. Endorsements To earn an endorsement, students must complete Foundation Plan coursework an additional math credit an additional science credit a coherent sequence of electives or Career and Technical Education courses (at least 4 credits) that meet the requirements for a specific endorsement. A student must earn at least 26 credits to earn an endorsement. I must also plan to earn one endorsement to graduate. +

Endorsements Endorsement areas are made up of a series of related courses that are grouped together by interests or skills. Each endorsement area will provide students with in-depth knowledge of a subject area. New Braunfels ISD offers courses in five endorsement areas. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Business and Industry Arts and Humanities Public Services Multidisciplinary Studies The Endorsement Showcase is Wednesday, October 17, at NBHS from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. +

Multidisciplinary Studies NBISD Endorsements Business and Industry Public Service Arts & Humanities STEM Multidisciplinary Studies Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Education and Training Social Studies Advanced Mathematics 4x4 Academic Business Management and Administration Health Science Languages Other Than English Advanced Science Advanced Academic Finance Human Services Fine Arts STEM with a CTE Focus CTE Information Technology Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security Marketing Military Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications Communications Courses are categorized into career clusters or areas of special interest for each endorsement area.

Planning for Graduation GRADE 8 All students must select an endorsement before they enter 9TH grade. Students’ decisions will be documented on the Endorsement Declaration form. +

Developing a Four-year Plan Parent attends Graduation Plan Meeting at ORMS on October 15th ! Parent and student attend the Endorsement Showcase on October 17th! 8th grade students attend the Student Graduation Plan Information meeting held on October 17th and 18th depending on their ELA teacher in their ELA class period. Between October 19th and November 1st, parents and students need to collaborate, discuss, and select courses in Career Cruising for grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. Parent needs to schedule an appointment on Sign Up Genius to meet with an ORMS Counselor. Students are included in this meeting. Students will be sent home with a Graduation Plan folder to share with you. There will be valuable resources inside that folder. +

Career Cruising Usernames and passwords for Career Cruising will come home in the student’s Grad Plan folder. +
