Gerundio (Ing form) El gerundio is the technical form in Spanish to call the Ing form in English, for example, working = trabajando or receiving = recibiendo. Gerundio and irregular verbs. When we transform irregulars verbs into gerundio and we have to change stem, there are 3 simple rules to apply. 1 – Verbs with O as stem we must change it to U: dormir = durmiendo (Sleeping), poder = pudiendo (To be able, can). 2 - Verbs with E as stem we must change it to I: decir = diciendo (Saying), medir = midiendo (measuring), vestir = vistiendo (Wearing). 3 – Verbs with stem ends in a vowel we must apply the ending YENDO: leer = leyendo (Reading), creer = creyendo (Believing), oir = oyendo (hearing) Notice when stem start with A or ending AR the gerundio is regular: Caminar = caminando, agitar = agitando (Waving), descansar = descansando (Resting), trabajar = trabajando, aplaudir = aplaudiendo (Applauding)
