How to access Mintel You can find Mintel in NORA on the Library web pages. In NORA click on ‘Browse resources by subject’.

How to access Mintel cont. Scroll down the list of subjects and click on ‘Marketing’

How to access Mintel cont. Then click on Mintel Reports: Academic. You will then need to log in with your Northumbria username and password and then agree to accept the companies conditions.

Searching Mintel Add a keyword to the search box near the top right. For example in this case we have added ‘Shampoo’.

Searching Mintel cont. The search results list the UK reports on that topic that are available to you. Remember that you can perhaps use trends in the UK market to predict trends overseas

Mintel- full UK report You can access the report section by section using the contents navigation at the left of the page.

Additional news Before you go into the report note there are links on the right of the page to ‘Market updates’ and ‘Company news’ which are always worth checking for additional information, particularly on brands.

Horizons - UK Don’t forget to look at the Horizons reports to give you a broader context. From the ‘My reports’ page click on ‘Show All Horizons UK Reports’ and browse the list of available reports.

Northumbria Skills Programme Training sessions for help with Library and Study Skills Workshops with skills practice Book places through ask4help@northumbria.ac.uk www.northumbria.ac.uk/libtraining The Northumbria Skills Programme is a programme of training sessions that takes place weeks beginning 6th and 20th February. Training sessions cover a range of topics to help you improve your academic skills such as essay writing, groupwork, effective search strategies, using the Library catalogue and NORA etc. Many of the sessions have a practical workshop element that give you the chance to learn and practice in the session. Sessions take place at both City and Coach Lane campus and you may attend at either campus. To book a place you can either telephone or e-mail ask4help@northumbria.ac.uk or go to the Enquiry Desk / Helpdesk on the First floor/ Ground floor of the Library.

Library skills – on the eLP The Library Skills area is available on all your modules on the e-Learning Portal (Blackboard) and gives access to a selection of resources that are relevant to Business School students. For example guides on: How to find Business information, academic writing and critical analysis, report writing, how to find Market reports and other marketing information.

Northumbria Skills Plus As well as the Library Skills area which is specific to NBS you also have access to NSP….. Skills Plus is a collection of interactive training materials and help guides which will help you develop your skills as an effective learner.
