3. Learning Resources
As a student of Edge Hill University you have a wealth of resources available to help you complete your studies.
The institution at which you are studying will provide you with:
teaching
learner support,
study space
printed resources
Edge Hill University provides:
digital resources – ebooks, journal articles
subject related information
guides on academic writing, research skills and more.
This presentation will give information on how to access and use these resources – and how to get help if you are stuck!

4. Getting Started Go to www.edgehill.ac.uk
Click on the padlock symbol at the top of the page.
Enter your username (student ID number) and your password. Both of these details can be found on your Edge Hill registration letter.
You will be logged into an area called Go.
From here you get access to your Edge Hill University and the Library Catalogue.

5. Library Catalogue
The books detailed on your reading list will be available in print form at your institution OR digital form via the Edge Hill University Library Catalogue.
open the Library Catalogue using the link in Go
log in (top right)
Type the book title or author name into the search box and click on the search icon.

6. Library Catalogue
Use the filters in the left-hand column to refine your results if you have too many matches:
By location
By type of item (choose ebook)
By subject
By publication date

7. Library Catalogue
Click on the title you are interested in. From here you can:
Read a summary of the book’s content
Find out more about the book’s author
Find more books on the same subject
To open the book click on the purple Access box

8. Library Catalogue
You can read ebooks on-screen or you can download them to read offline. You will see what is available on the opening screen.
Downloads will auto-delete after a set time.
You can download to your tablet, mobile or laptop (you may need to download some software first).
The library catalogue gives you access to over 100,000 ebooks. We have a number of different providers with differing user interfaces, but each of them will allow you to:
search within the book
make notes
highlight
bookmark

9. Discover More
You have access to thousands of online journals. You can search for articles on a particular subject using Discover More.
DISCOVER MORE is a single search tool that searches the majority of Edge Hill’s digital library. In one simple search you have access to thousands of books, journals and databases. Like any other search engine, search Discover More using keywords on the topic that you are researching.
You’ll find a link to Discover More on the Library Catalogue home page.

10. Discover More
Type in your search terms – use key words rather than a whole assignment title!
Your results appear in the middle of the screen.
If you have too many results, use the left-hand column to refine your search.
Click on ‘full text online’
to open and read the article.
Click on Preview to see the
abstract and publication details.

UniSkills is a package of online resources created to help you develop a range of essential academic skills:
assignment planning
academic writing
critical analysis
referencing
and much more!
Whatever your subject or level of study, UniSkills has something to offer.
