Causes of WWI By: Ms. A 

Nationalism The belief that your country deserves more success than others This made countries like Germany, Russia, and France complete for land and power

Imperialism The desire for more land Many European countries (and the US) were starting colonies in other parts of the world

Militarism To protect all their land, countries began strengthening their armies and navies Militarism is the building of a strong military to frighten or defeat other countries

Alliances An alliance is an agreement nations make to support and defend each other The two most important alliances were the Allied Powers (Russia, France, Great Britain, Italy, Serbia) and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, Ottoman Empire)
