On the index card… List the following information: First and Last Name – Write down the name you preferred to be called Parents/Guardian phone and email Your Class Schedule – Block Number, Teacher Name, Subject, Room Number (don’t have to include 4th Period – I know where you are during this class)

Daily Class Structure When you enter the classroom, any handouts that you need will be on the front table, make sure you pick them up on your way in We will begin each class with a Warm-Up: questions to help review the previous day will be on the smart board Use your notes or handouts from the previous day to answer the questions on a post it To get full credit – you must be in your seat when the bell rings – you must attempt to answer the questions – if you do not know the answer – use your notes Should have all the correct answers written on your post it by the time you turn your post it in We will complete a review at the end of each class (TOD) – answer these questions on the same post it as the warm up Warm Ups and TODs – count as a quiz grade each nine weeks

END OF CLASS – WE WILL COMPLETE A REVIEW EVERY DAY AT THE END OF CLASS, STAY IN YOUR SEAT UNTIL THE BELL RINGS –NO STANDING UP OR LINING UP AT THE DOOR PLEASE BRING YOUR SYLLABUS HOME AND HAVE IT SIGNED – THIS IS DUE TOMORROW

Phone Policy If you are caught with your phone out – I will take your phone If you want it back at the end of class – you will have to stand up and read the following statement to the class: I am so sorry that I had my phone out. Obviously, looking at my phone is more important to me than doing well in class and graduating from high school. My decision to be rude and disrespectful has now wasted everyone’s time. I will make sure this never happens again. I am so so so so so so sorry. Please accept my apology. If you do not want to read the statement, your phone will be in the office for you to pick up at the end of the day

Grading GRADING: Tests and Project - 50 % Quizzes - 30% Classwork/ Online Discussion - 20 % For each nine weeks you receive 20 – 25 grades TUTORING – Tuesday and Wednesday 2:45 – 3:30 or by appointment Email anytime – christophersager@fcschools.net

Test Corrections ONLY ON TESTS If you receive lower than a 65 on a test, you will have ONE day to correct any answers that you missed to receive half the points back for each incorrect answer The highest grade you can get is a 65 Example: if you make a 50 on a test and make corrections to 15 questions (that were worth two points on the test) you would receive a 65 (one pt. for each correct answer)

On the back of the index card... 1. Describe what you think of when you hear the words: “World History” 2. How do you like to learn? Do you prefer to learn by looking at articles, videos, maps, drawings, graphs? Do you prefer lecturing and taking notes? Do you like to be hands on and do a lot of activities 3. What is your primary language used at home? Can you speak multiple languages? If so, which ones? 4. What can we do in class that will help you review and prepare for tests and quizzes? (Study Guides, Kahoot, Quizizz, etc.)

Online Discussion Each week you will be responsible for responding to a discussion question that will help add and build on the information covered in class. The questions will be posted on sagerworldhistory.weebly.com by Monday morning. Initial responses to the question are due by the end of the school day on Wednesday of each week. Once all initial responses are received you will then be responsible for responding to two of your classmates responses by Sunday at midnight.

Online Discussion ALL responses should first state your thoughts on the discussion question and then use evidence gathered from any in class discussion and materials to support your response – you have to write more than “I agree” or ”I disagree” – you must explain why you agree or disagree -ALL responses must be appropriate and respectful -Late responses will not be accepted and will be counted as a zero -Discussion responses will be graded and count as a classwork grade every 2 weeks - - 3 posts = 100% - 2 posts = 66% - 1 post = 33% Example: If you do 3 posts one week and no posts the next – you would get a 50 for a grade (100% for the first week, 0% for the 2nd, avg. is 50)
