What are Carbohydrates? Sugars Fibers Starches

What are Carbohydrates? Galactose Monosaccharides Disaccharides Polysaccharides Glucose Fructose Maltose Lactose Sucrose Amylopectin Cellulose

What does your body do with carbohydrates? Your body treats all carbohydrates the same  It breaks them down! (except fiber) Most digestible carbohydrates are converted to glucose (aka blood sugar), your cells’ universal energy source.

The Experiment Lugol’s Solution A yellow-brown solution made with iodine, used to test for the presence of starch. Lugol’s solution reacts chemically with starch to create a blue-black substance called iodide starch.
