Calling a Foul Blow the whistle sharply so EVERYONE can hear it Raise your arm with a closed fist Communicate with your partner(s) what you have: Whose ball is it? Location of throw-in or free throws?

Types of Fouls: Block or Charge? Illegal body contact which impedes the progress of an opponent with or without the ball. Charge Illegal body contact caused by an offensive player pushing or moving a defensive player who has legal position. VS Legal Guarding Position: Legally get to the spot first Both feet must be on the floor The front of the body must be facing opponent

Types of Fouls: Hack Illegal contact with the ball handler that is generally directed towards the arm of the ball handler.

Types of Fouls: Hand Check Contact by the defensive player which impedes the forward or lateral movement of the ball handler.

Types of Fouls: Push Displacing an opponent from their previous position using their body or arms. This type of foul is most often called on rebounds for “over the back” fouls.

Types of Fouls: Hold Grabbing a player that hinders the player’s movement
