How to become an airline customer service agent Shelby’s Career Path How to become an airline customer service agent

My Career Goals I want to become an airline customer service agent by 2023 To get there, I will need to: Graduate high school by June 2018 Then start college/university, it usually takes 4 years of college/university, so I’ll be graduated by 2022

What is an airline customer service agent? Handling customers’ need Get them onto the aircrafts with their baggage Handling the ticket needs of passengers, as well as tagging their luggage Taking care of passengers special needs Take payments for the flight

About my future career To do this job, I will work in the airport everyday The income is between $20,000 - $55,000 I will work 8 - 9 hours a day and about 40 hours a week, the start and end time are not the same for every person

My job has a 52% chance of becoming automated I think it will become automated because in the future there might be more technology that is used to help passengers tag bags and issue boarding pass and other stuff but I also think it won’t become automated because it will need people to deal with passengers problem and check for ticketing problems, even if it is automated, there might be a lot of problems that need people to solve

Airline Customer Service Agent would be great for me because… I have… Teamwork skills Communication skills Positive attitude

I am not quite ready for this career, but I will get there! These are skills for the job I still need to learn: This is how I will get those necessary skills: Computer Skills Practice by using computer and try learning it Problem solving skills Start to learn how to solve problems but not always waiting for others to solve it

This is what appeals to me with this career… There’s a great deals on flight, since I love to travel, this really appeals me I love meeting new people and working as an airline customer service agent will be dealing with people around the world, so I think it’s a great opportunity to meet new people

These are some things I find less appealing about this career… Getting tired feet because of standing all day and walking around It’s not a 9 – 5 job, so there might be early shifts in the morning or late evenings. Dealing with irate passengers

Potential obstacles to getting this career The possible obstacles: My plan to overcome them: Don’t have enough money for school Work and ask parents for help Fear of losing the job Be optimistic Our inner voice (telling us what is right and wrong) Train our inner voice to be positve and encouraging

Potential obstacles to being successful within this career The possible obstacles: My plan to overcome them: Forgetting to stay positive Build a dream job team to support ourself If you fail, stand up and try again Fear of failure Perfect does not exist, so take a step to the right direction Pursuit of perfection

The training/education required for my career is: College Travel & Tourism Business Management Diploma

I intend to go to Canadian Tourism College for that career It is located in Canada, Vancouver, BC, Surrey There are three programs to choose: Tourism Co-Op Certificate – 24 weeks of instruction including 240 hours of Co- Op Travel & Tourism Business Management Diploma – 47 weeks of instruction Travel & Tourism Business Management Diploma with Co-Op – 98 weeks including 956 hours of Co-Op $6,955 - $22,795
