Downstream Future Leaders Program CATEGORY LEAD, S&M Downstream Future Leaders Program Role Title Category Lead Reporting to Business Area ASPAC FUELS Downstream DC Sales, Marketing & Retail Role Level Location & expected travel Melbourne BFHR contact for this role Direct Reports? No Role in context of Future Leaders Program This role is part of the Future Leaders Program, which aims to attract and develop individuals external to BP with diverse experiences and leadership capability to bolster the Downstream distinctive capability leadership pipelines. The program consists of 2x24 months rotations within a distinctive capability area, and will include targeted leadership development and capability building. This role is the first of two rotations in the Sales , Marketing and Retail Distinctive Capability. Role Purpose The purpose of the role is to deliver a convenience offer that meets the needs of our customer segments. Results are measured by the delivery of sales, margin and buying group income plan for designated categories. Team membership The Category Lead is a member of the Convenience Retail Team. The team has accountability to drive and deliver sustainable gross margin dollar growth for designated categories within their specified Merchandise and/or Food category. This will be done through strong stakeholder management, innovation and consistent application of category management principles. Specific Role Description Development of annual category plans which include input from local industry and international trends, Buying Group, Suppliers, Customer insights and Competitors. Continually testing and identifying changes in the trends and purchasing habits of target customer segments and reflecting these changes in category planning. Monitoring the impact of actions on a weekly basis and adjust as necessary in an action-oriented approach Building of collaborative relationships with peers and drive a fully integrated offer to ensure the achievement of the convenience trading vision & mission Delivering the requirements of the Category Manager to service the BP Buying Group. Providing ongoing communication to operations and suppliers of plans, strategies and agreed actions to obtain high quality execution in the field Strong application of product, price, promotion and placement for dedicated categories to drive GMROS. Provide input and recommendations into annual store sales and margin plans Monitoring promotional execution and effectiveness of all activity in consultation with the Brand & Events team.
