Review Limited vs Unlimited Government Everyone must obey the laws regardless of position. Ex: US Constitution limits power of the government. Unlimited Government: Leaders do not have to follow the same laws as everyone else. Ex: North Korea

A Gov. system in which the Gov. party owns and controls everything. Communism Definition A Gov. system in which the Gov. party owns and controls everything.

Communism Who has the power: The communist party/Gov. owns and controls all. Location: China, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and Cuba

Type Theocracy

Religious leaders control the government. Theocracy Definition: Religious leaders control the government.

Theocracy Who has the power?: They elect leaders but the authority lies with the Religious leaders. Location: Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen

Type Monarchy

A government that is led by a Born ruler (king or queen). Monarchy Definition A government that is led by a Born ruler (king or queen).

Democracy Definition Gov. where people vote or elect reps. to decide and make laws for them.

Citizens/voters who elect the reps. into office. Democracy (Republic) Who has the Power Citizens/voters who elect the reps. into office.

Democracy Examples Republic: people vote on representatives to rule over them and to act in the people’s best interest. Location: United States Germany Mexico India and England* Direct Democracy: People decide each decision that needs to be made. ( no elected leader) Located: Small countries around the world

THE UNITED STATES Limited Government: The Government gets its power from the Constitution and no person or entity is above the Rules (amendments and articles) of the Constitution. Type: Democratic Republic Leader: Elected President

The United States Government Breakdown 3 Branches: Executive: Enforces the Laws of the Constitution and all laws written in the spirit of the Constitution. Legislative: Creates Laws that are written in the Spirit of the Constitution Judicial: Interprets the laws that are created to make sure that they are Constitutional (follow the Constitution)
