SCHOOL DISTRICT OWNED MEMBERSHIP

What is SDM? Membership owned by a school district (or state agency) in the name of an individual Transferrable to another individual in the same membership category Same benefits and dues as individual membership *Not available for: Student, Retired and Affiliate membership categories SDM is an alternative to standard individual memberships and designed to meet the needs of the changing workforce by enabling school districts to keep school nutrition staff informed and educated about feeding students. The goal of SDM is to make it easier for school districts to pay for memberships and allow their employees to enjoy the many benefits of SNA membership. A SDM is a membership that is owned by a school district (or state agency) in the name of an individual and is transferrable to another employee in the same membership category if the original assignee leaves the district. This is not one membership for an entire district, but separate memberships that are transferrable. SDMs receive all of the same benefits as an individual member at the same price as individual membership dues. Just a note: SDM is not available for the Student, Retired, and Affiliate membership categories.

SDM Administrator Main contact for: Renewals Membership transfers Membership changes, additions, updates, etc. Emailed renewals (once or twice a year) Does not have to be an active SNA member One (1) SDM administrator must be designated Every SDM – must designate a SDM administrator. The SDM administrator (or sometimes referred to as SDM admin) is the main contact for renewals, membership transfers, membership changes/additions/updates/etc. Renewals are emailed to this individual once or twice a year (depending on their members’ renewal dates) in the form of an excel spreadsheet. This individual does not have to be a SNA member and they do not necessarily need to be the district director – just the person who is going to manage the memberships. Every SDM must designate one (1) SDM administrator; and only one (1) SDM administrator is permitted.

‘5 and 1 Free’ Incentive For every 5 new managers/employees, you receive one 1 new free membership of the same category. 5 new managers = 1 new free manager 5 new employees = 1 new free employee We currently have an incentive for new SDM members (in the manager/employee category). For every 5 new managers or employees, you receive 1 new free membership of the same category. For example, 5 new managers = 1 new free manager; 5 new employees = 1 new free employee. The National and state dues as well as the processing fee are all waived or rather, free. A few things that are very important to note for this incentive: They must be new SNA members (never been an SNA member before; even if it was 10 years ago). This only applies to the employee and manager membership categories. They must be of the same membership category.

Viewing Your Roster in My Account SDM administrators can view and download their SDM roster by logging into their SNA account. Here you can view details about your SDM including general contact information (address, email, phone, etc.); membership categories, membership dues, membership expirations, certificate levels as well as certificate expirations. This information is synced with our database and is updated in real-time – so it is always the most current.

Viewing Your Roster in My Account You are also able to export your SDM roster to an Excel spreadsheet. You can find step-by-step details on how to export your roster to an Excel spreadsheet in our SDM Guide by going to: www.schoolnutrition.org/sdmguide. Now available is the ability to print all your team’s membership ID cards. Simply click the Member ID link and the card will open in a new window.

Why Go SDM? Higher renewal/retention rates SDM admin can view SDM roster via My Account in real-time anytime! Member’s preferred mailing address can be home or business Ability to align membership renewal dates Less paperwork = smoother renewal process Bring on new members and save! So why should you go SDM? First and foremost, we find that SDMs have higher renewal and retention rates. SDMs preferred mailing address (where the member card and magazines are sent) can be either their home or work address. With SDM, there are no individual paper renewal notices sent; instead, everything is sent electronically in the form of a spreadsheet to one main contact. This helps to cut down on time and paper and in result, the whole process is much smoother. The SDM admin (or main contact) can view his/her roster in real-time (and anytime) via their SNA account. With SDM, you have the ability to align renewal dates so that all of your memberships expire the same month. And lastly, our ‘5 and 1 free’ incentive for new employees or managers allows you to bring on new members and save at the same time!

SDM Guide Includes an overview of SDM as well as information on: Getting started Transferring memberships Aligning renewal dates FAQs www.schoolnutrition.org/sdmguide SNA has put together a Guide to School District (or State Agency) Owned Membership that includes details on getting started, transferring memberships, aligning membership renewal dates as well as some common FAQs. The guide can be viewed and downloaded by going to: www.schoolnutrition.org/sdmguide.
