Presentation transcript:

Research preferred A levels for law I’m worried I won’t do well enough in my French GCSE to continue at A Level, and don’t know if I’ll need it to work in law. The other options I’d like to take are Law and English literature, but might take a fourth option. What should I do? Research preferred A levels for law Ask French teacher for their opinion Ask French teacher how to improve

I’m still worried I’m not good enough at French though. You don’t necessarily need a law A level or even a law degree to work in law. Some law firms do prefer you to have a language though, so French A level is probably a good idea. I’m still worried I’m not good enough at French though. What should I do next? Ask form tutor for their help Ask French teacher for their opinion Research other A level options

Ask form tutor for their help My French teacher agrees that my grades could be better and recommends I look at other options. However, she said she will help me improve if I want to study French A level. What should I do next? Ask form tutor for their help Research A levels preferred for law Research other A level options

Attend a Sixth Form open day My form tutor has suggested if I’m worried I could ask to take four A levels in my first year and then could always drop French if it wasn’t going well. I’m not sure my Sixth Form would let me do this though. What should I do next? Attend a Sixth Form open day Ask head of Sixth Form at current school Ask French teacher how to improve

Research university summer schools I got to go to taster lessons of lots of different subjects. I liked the independence of Sixth Form and the different style of lessons. It surprised me how much I enjoyed History and I think I might take it as a fourth option. What should I do next? Research university summer schools Start Sixth Form application

Attend Sixth Form open day The head of sixth form has told me I can do four A levels, but only if I achieve Cs in all my subjects at GCSE, and I will have to drop one before my second year. This could solve my issue with French as I could drop it and still have three A levels. What should I do next? Attend Sixth Form open day Research other options

Attend Sixth Form open day My French teacher has offered to give me intervention after school. They’ve also encouraged me to set up a club with other students where we spend an hour a week talking to each other in French. I now feel more confident about French GCSE. What should I do next? Attend Sixth Form open day Ask about taking four a levels Research other options

Ask about taking four a levels There are lots of A levels I could take instead of French which are still respected by universities. According to the Which University Guide, essay based subjects might be useful. I’m now thinking I might take History as my other option. What should I do next? Ask about taking four a levels Attend Sixth Form open day

Start Sixth Form application I’ve signed up for a university summer school which will help me prepare for A level and start thinking more about my future. What should I do next? Start Sixth Form application Research other options

Ask for help from form tutor I’ve filled out most of my application for Sixth Form but I need to write a paragraph on my future aspirations and I’m not sure what to put. What should I do next? Ask for help from form tutor Arrange an appointment with a careers adviser

Further research into law apprenticeships I used the UCAS website to research post-16 apprenticeships. I like the idea of earning while you work and I’m confident I’ll get the entry requirements of 5 Cs, not sure if there are any linked to law though. What should I do next? Further research into law apprenticeships Start sixth form application

Submit sixth form application My tutor has helped me write a paragraph explaining my future aspirations. I talked about how I want to study law and would like to attend university in the future. What should I do next? Submit sixth form application Arrange a meeting with a careers adviser

I filled out a worksheet with the careers adviser planning my future and explaining why I want to work in law. We used this to finish my Sixth Form application and I’m confident about what I’ve written. Submit application

Start Sixth Form application alone I’ve found some local apprenticeships linked to law but they all require A levels to complete. I’ve therefore decided to apply for Sixth Form. What should I do next? Start Sixth Form application alone Arrange for help from a careers adviser Ask form tutor for help
