2 You have a lot of years ahead of you to work so it’s important to choose a career that you are going to enjoy.

3 You are in the driving seat!
After Year 11 … This is the time you get to make the choices on what you want to study and what road you want to take. You are in the driving seat!

4 Choices at 16 Continue education at Sixth Form, College or Sixth Form College Learn and earn at the same time through an Apprenticeship Employment with Accredited Training Volunteering combined with part-time study or training

5 Choices at 16 – What to Study
If you decide to stay in education you will need to make decisions on: What subjects you want to study What qualifications you want to gain Where to study Don’t forget to think ahead! What do you want to do at age 18?

6 What if I don’t know what I want to do?
Not everyone will know what they want to do as a career. A good place to start is to think about subjects you enjoy at school or interests you may have. How could they be incorporated into a job?

8 Know what you want to do but don’t know how to get there?
If you know what you want to do but don’t know how to get there, the National Careers Services website is a good place to look. It has 100’s of different job profiles which give you information such as the skills and qualifications needed to get into that job such as: what the work would be like, the pay you could expect, what the career prospects are.

9 It’s good to talk Speak to: Parents, family friends, teachers, form tutors, careers advisers and ask them about their jobs and how they got into them. Discuss your career ideas with them.

You can find all the 6th form, college courses and apprenticeships across Norfolk all in one place. You can apply to multiple 6th forms and college using the same information. It will save you time when you are busy in Year 11 preparing for your GCSE exams. You can track online applications.

13 For Post-16 Options Click on the options below 6th Form and College courses to start researching your options

14 Search courses Click ‘More Information’ next to any course to find out more about it.

15 Course Descriptions Each course has a description and entry requirements

16 Choose which courses to apply for
Click ‘Add to Application’ to apply for courses

When you’ve finished selecting courses, click ‘Continue’

18 How to Apply Online Search courses Choose which courses to apply for
Login with your username and password If you have already completed ‘My Account’ you can use this information for your application form You may need to complete a few additional questions on your application form Check what you’ve put on your form then send it

19 5. Fill in the application form
If you have already completed information in ’My Account’ you may need to complete a few additional questions on your application form Click Save and Continue when you’re ready for the next set of questions

20 6. Check what you’ve put on your form then send it
When your form’s complete, you go to the Check and Send Page Click Check Application to see a summary of your form – read it through carefully before sending it When you’re ready to apply, click Submit Application

21 What Happens Next? You’ll get an Receipt to confirm your application’s been sent You’ll then get an Acknowledgement from each sixth form and college when they start processing your application Some sixth forms and colleges then contact you to arrange an Advice Interview

22 My Course Applications
In ‘My Course Applications’ you can check on the status of your application, it will show if the provider has collected it. You can also withdraw an application if the provider you are applying to has not collected it
