Northwestern graduation requirements Graduates need 1 year worth of Fine Arts. This requirement may have been earned during Middle School and includes year-long Art, Choir, Band or Drama classes. Middle School fine arts might fulfill the requirement for graduation, but it does not earn you a high school credit. If you are striving to graduate with an Honors Diploma, one of the criteria is to have 1 Fine Arts credit during high school. Even if you fulfilled the Fine Arts graduation requirement in middle school, you would still need a Fine Arts class taken during high school to earn the high school credit to meet that Honors Diploma criteria. Fine Arts is explained, at length, in the Course Selection Book.

Other considerations Besides meeting Graduation Requirements, there are other things to be aware of when selecting classes: Honors Diploma Career-Center? IB? Advanced (Honors)classes College Credit Plus Future Career Interests

Course selection book Books are available online. Go to the High School site, then choose Guidance and click on Course Selection Book. Please take scheduling seriously and actually read about the classes you are asking to take. The Master Schedule is designed around the classes that are requested by students. Be sure to ask for the correct level (I, II, III, etc.) of a class, based on where you are in the class levels. EX: don’t ask for Choir II just because you are going into your 10th grade year. You must do Choir I first. Do not request more than one level of a class, other than Strength Training or Tech. Do not ask to take a class again if you have earned credit for it already.
