2 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS - ALL GRADES
To graduate from high school in the state of Ohio, students need to complete two tasks. TASK ONE: CREDITS TASK TWO: TESTING

3 CREDIT REQUIREMENTS – ALL GRADES
Subject Area Required Credits English 4 Social Studies (US, World, Gov) 3 Science (1 life, 1 physical) 3 Math (must complete Alg. II) PE (may be waived) Health Tech/Foreign Language 1 Financial Literacy class 1 course (grades 9-12) Fine Arts credit (grades 7-12) Additional credits 5-6 Total

4 TESTING REQUIREMENTS Three testing pathways to a high school diploma 1. Earn cumulative score on end-of-course state tests. 2. Demonstrate college readiness. 3. Demonstrate work force readiness.

5 TESTING REQUIREMENTS 1. Earn a cumulative passing score of 18 points on the following seven end-of-course state tests. Literature Survey & Composition World Literature & Composition Algebra I Geometry United States History American Government Biology

6 TESTING REQUIREMENTS For each state test, a student earns 1 to 5 graduation points. A high score on one test can balance a low score on another test. Point breakdown by subject: Math = 4 point minimum English = Social Studies/Science = 6 point minimum

7 TESTING REQUIREMENTS If your student took Biology in the school year, they will be assigned graduation points based on their final letter grade. If your student completed Algebra I before July 1, 2014, they will be assigned 3 graduation points automatically Algebra I. A = 5 points B = 4 points C = 3 points D = 2 points

8 TESTING REQUIREMENTS Resources:
AP - Students taking AP US History and/or AP Government may take their respective AP exams in May instead of the state end-of-course tests. The AP exam score will count toward the student’s graduation points. CCP - Students taking College Credit Plus courses in tested subjects will use the course grade, not end-of-course test points, to determine their points earned toward graduation. 9 TESTING REQUIREMENTS 2. Students earn “remediation-free” scores in English language arts and mathematics on either the SAT or ACT. ACT SAT Math 22 520 Reading 21 Critical Reading 450 English 18 Writing 430

10 TESTING REQUIREMENTS 3. Students earn 12 points through an industry-recognized credential or group of credentials in a single career field and achieve a workforce readiness score on the WorkKeys assessment. Our students who attend C-TEC will have direct access to opportunities for credentialing while also preparing for the WorkKeys assessment. HONORS DIPLOMA – ALL GRADES Subject High School Academic Diploma with Honors English 4 credits Mathematics 4 credits, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or equivalent and another higher level course or a four-year sequence of courses that contain equivalent content Science 4 credits; including 2 units of advanced science. Social Studies Global Language 3 credits, including at least 2 units in each language studied Fine Arts 1 credits Career-Technical Not counted toward requirements, and may not be used to meet requirements Electives Not counted toward requirements Grade Point Average 3.5 on a 4.0 scale ACT/SAT Score [excluding writing scores] 27 ACT / 1280 SAT
