THE TUNDRA

BASIC INFORMATION Geographic location: the location of the tundra is about 55 degrees to 70 degrees latitude north, it's covers some of North America, green land, and Asia. Average precipitation: the yearly precipitation, including melting snow, is 15 to 25 centimeters ( 6 to 10 inches) Seasons: the main seasons are winter and summer. Spring and fall are short periods between winter and summer.

Average temperature The average temperature the the tundra is 10-20 degrees fare and high. The yearly toddle amount of precipitation is 6-10" a year. Also the tundra is the youngest biome on earth.

ANIMALS OF THE TUNDRA A few of the animals found in the tundra are: - caribou - bears (grizzly) - wolves - foxes: arctic fox's has short ears, round body's, and thick fur to limit skin showing so he stays warmer. - rodents - hares

Endangered species Polar bears are very in danger due too human and global worming wiping out there habitat. Arctic fox the tundras is worming up and it makes a good environment for larger foxes to live as we'll and they can kill the small 10 pound Arctic fox with ease.

Native plants The Callergon giganteum grows on the article tundras along with willows, Bearberry, caribou moss, diamond-leaf willow larabor tea. Pasqueflower, tufted saxifrage are all plants that grow in the tundra and each of them have had to adapted to the tundra clement.

ACTIVITIES Their are hundreds of things you can do while visiting the tundra. You can fish,go hiking, view the wildlife, river floating, or if you really wanted to you can go on a hunting adventure after the caribou and bear.

Three points of interest Alaska mount McKinley at 20,000 feet above sea level, America between the taiga to the south and the permanent ice to the north. Or around the North Pole article circle, North America antarctica.

THINGS NEEDED TO KNOW Theirs a lot of good things about the tundra but also theirs bad things too. These are what we call the threats to the tundra. Here's a few things you should know: - buildings and roads put heat and pressure on the permafrost, causing it to melt. - air pollution can cause smog clouds that contaminate lichen, a significant food source of food for many animals. - oil spills can kill wildlife and significantly damage tundra ecosystem.

IMPORTANCE The tundra plays a big role in temperature regulation go the plant. As warm air rises from the tropical zone it is cooled in the tundra causing it to sink back down to the equator. With all this happening it causes weather And air currents. The tundra is a key factor in global biodiversity.

Symbiotic relationships Tundra biomes exist in northern&Southern limits of habitable territory earth.
