Review beginning/ending procedures Inspect area where program/event is taking place. Review clean-up policy Review damage policy Review inappropriate behavior policies Confirm what time the event will end

Dance Procedures Remind sponsoring group that they are responsible for maintaining an awareness of what occurs in the area of their event, but ultimately the JFK managers and supervisors are in charge of the facility.

Dance Procedures Dance policies: Ask for ID card to gain admission. High school students are not permitted at University-sponsored dances. Visitors from other colleges and universities are permitted and may gain admission by presenting their college/university ID card signing the log sheet. LIMIT OF TWO (2) GUESTS PER SFU STUDENT. No one without a hand stamp will be admitted to dances after 12:30 a.m. Clothing must be worn in the manner in which it was designed at all times. No clothing is to be removed (other than jackets), pulled up or down, or moved to reveal the body. No smoking is permitted inside the JFK Center. Students must behave in an appropriate manner, including dancing, language, courtesy towards security/DJ/other staff, etc. (As listed in the University Code of Conduct).

Dance Procedures Anyone who has been ejected from an event will not be allowed back in. University Police will be notified immediately of any type of altercation. Get names of people involved in any altercation or inappropriate behavior. Contact University Police if you see or if anyone reports a problem.

Dance Procedures Confronting inappropriate behavior Minor incidents (boisterous behavior, dancing) can be overlooked but keep an eye on the situation to make sure it does not get out-of-hand. Inappropriate behavior (threatening language, heated arguments, fights) - contact University Police NEVER get between two people involved in an argument or physical confrontation Keep your cool! Never lose your temper and argue with someone who is drunk and/or looking for a fight. Medical emergencies should be reported to University Police immediately

Dance Procedures Restrooms should be checked every twenty (20) minutes for cleanliness and damage. At the end of the dance, announce that the dance is over and turn on the lights. Assist with the clearing of the building at the end of the event. Assist the sponsoring group with returning the area to its original condition.

Dance Procedures What you can expect from Campus Police at Dances Campus Police will arrive at 9:30 pm for a 10:00 pm dance. Campus Police will remain at the dance at all times until 1:15 am (or until all students are removed from the site of the dance). Campus Police will walk around the dance every twenty (20) minutes to ensure that no students are causing trouble. As needed, campus police will remove students from the dance and/or reprimand them for their behavior. Campus Police will remove those students who are drinking/are visibly intoxicated. If there are no working males (security or the JFK Information Desk) available, Campus Police will check the men’s room for problems. Campus Police will communicate with the assigned Graduate Assistant throughout the dance, in the event of any incidents, etc.
