1 Human Services General Class Safety Information

2 General Info You will be tested over the following information and you must make a 100 on the test. Your parent/guardian will need to sign your completed test as well.

4 School Codes Code Red- Lockdown
Involves extremely dangerous situation. Includes, but not limited to: intruder, hostage situation, student unrest, shooting, stabbing, suicidal person, and weapons. When a Code Red is called the following procedures must be followed – close blinds, turn off lights, cover doors and windows, get in a safe place, be quiet and calm. Must transition to Code Yellow before going to Code Green Require announcement from 2 recognizable voices.

5 Continued Code Yellow- Lockdown
Lock Doors, carry on with daily activities. Keep students in room until further notified. Should be in a sheltered location, but can continue normal activities, paying attention to surroundings. Class changes, activities and lunches will be suspended until directed to do otherwise by administration or SRO. May be used during medical and weather related incidents. May be elevated to code red or a transition to code green.

6 Continued Code Blue-First Responders/Medical Emergency
Location will be announced. May respond during code yellow, but not code red. Students should remain in the classroom and carry on with daily activities.

7 Code Green- All clear Used to announce the resumption of normal activity following a Code Red or Yellow. Return to classrooms and standard movement. Announced by two persons, preferably administration and SRO

8 Tornado Drills Stay in the most stable part of the building
Keep away from windows and doors Keep calm, quiet and stay with your class

9 Fire Safety Drills Designated location for the department will be in the area next to the building trades building located near the baseball field. You will be responsible for meeting the teacher at this location to ensure that the class is all together in a safe location. Be sure to move quickly, but safely to the designated location. Stay calm and quiet. We will return to the classroom together when we allowed to return.

10 Department Safety No Horseplay in the department to include running around, hiding, play fighting, or touching the electrical panel or fire alarm. Walking is the accepted method of movement around the classroom. If you see anything hazardous in the classroom or hallway tell the teacher at once. Clean up any spills immediately. When unplugging equipment, grasp from the plug, not the cord.

11 Classroom Conduct Enter the classroom and go to your designated area.
Place your belongings in the assigned location. According to fire codes, you must not block doors, windows and aisles. Have all supplies that you will need at the beginning of class. Respect the teacher area. Respect other student’s belongings. Return all supplies and equipment back to the proper location when finished.

12 Conduct Remain in your area until dismissed by the teacher.
Push up your chairs under the desk/table before leaving. Respect the classroom by: Not writing on school property to include the desks, walls, chairs, and textbooks. If something breaks while you are using it let the teacher know immediately.
