Gourd Art Steps A Green Craft

Green and Dried Gourds Students harvesting gourds in fall.

Drill and 3/8" , 1/4" and 1 3/8" Drill Bits Elementary children cannot use drills so you will have to do this step for them. The bits will be used to drill the entryway, the holes for hanging, and drainage. Also, for a perch if you decide to add one.

Use a knife to finish the clean-up

Use a spoon and your fingers to remove seeds and clean out gourd.

Cleaning:1part bleach to 10 parts water Cleaning the gourd with a bleach solution. Cleaning with bleach helps to disinfect the gourd.

Sandpaper or Fine Steel Wool can be used to remove the thin outer layer.
