Oil painting may be the most difficult of the painting media to master.
It is a slow drying paint that is oil based.
Many artist prefer oil because it allows you to blend and mix color easily.
Oil also allows you to paint very thickly and create interesting texture.

4. Acrylic Painting
Acrylic paint is different from oil paint because it is water based.
Acrylic paint has a fast drying time and cannot be painted thickly.

5. Watercolor Painting
Water color painting is similar to acrylic because it is water based.
However watercolor painting is unique because the paint is transparent. You can see color layers through one another.

6. Tempera Painting
Tempera is similar to acrylic and watercolor because it is water based. However tempera is not transparent. It does dry fast and is good for putting in even color tones.
