College Essay Pre-Write

Beginning Your Essay Step #1 – Brainstorm a list of at least three stories/topics/main ideas you have that effectively and accurately answer your chosen prompt. These must be personal stories that explain who you are as an individual and why you are an excellent choice for their university. Step #2 – Choose the best one and create a pre-writing map to organize your ideas. Only write a map for the topic you’ve chosen for your final draft.

Your Pre-Writing Map Main Idea Intro Body Conclusion This map must be completed and turned in with your final draft along with all rough copies. Your map should be formatted like the one to the right. Expand off each bubble with concrete and specific details. When your map has been checked off, you may begin handwriting a draft. Bring all notes to class on Tuesday, September 17.
