2 Today’s Objectives You will create a concluding paragraph the presents a concession and rebuttal as well as a call to action to provide a powerful ending to your essay You will revise and edit your rough draft in order to portray a working plan to a successful score 3 or 4 essay You will read and annotate for plot “The Tell-Tale Heart” in order to create a storyboard presentation in preparation for script writing another story

4 Conclusion Model Copy and Watch as I write the conclusion for our shared topic using the t-chart from pre-writing *remember ethos will be present in my grammar, spelling, organization & focus, as well as when I make my concession & rebuttal/counterargument*

5 Your turn! With the same partner with whom you wrote your body paragraphs, you will write the conclusion of your essay Remember to use your T-chart! You have 10 minutes

6 Theme Hook The number one type of hook used in AP essays is the THEME
Create a theme for your essay based on what you have written Remember a theme is Universal truth: The theme is usually something everyone goes through, a statement or a lesson about life. General: The theme expresses the author's opinion or about human nature or the meaning of human experience. (not specific to story or person) Represents what you want the reader to learn/agree with You have 10 minutes to develop your hook

7 Revise & Edit Rough Draft
Next, I will show you how to revise & edit your rough draft in 10 minutes or less! First off, check the spelling of any words of which you are unsure Secondly, upgrade your vocabulary You need at LEAST 3 higher level words from the back wall (writing vocabulary) Thirdly, check your transitions Do you have at least six? Fourth Fix your contractions: Academic essays do NOT contain contractions because they are considered slang

8 Compare & Contrast Fill out the chart as we view the video You will have 7 minutes to fill it out after the video in order to help you write your compare/contrast paragraph
