TDA Station For this TDA, you will analyze the author's use of suspense. Day 1: Read story Read through the short story. Highlight important information concerning suspense.  HW: finish reading and highlighting

2 TDA Station Day 2: Discussion and Questions
With your small group, discuss the story. Focus on elements of suspense and characterization. Complete the text dependent and discussion questions on OneNote.  HW: finish questions

3 TDA Station Day 3: Prompt and Brainstorm
Read the prompt. Highlight important information in the prompt. Set a timer and brainstorm individually for 6 minutes- write down everything.  Come together as a group and share more brainstorming ideas. Remember the more the easier it is to write! HW: none

4 TDA Station Day 4: Choose Claims and Organize Information
Look at your brainstormed items. Choose the two claims you will use in your TDA.  Get organization page and begin organizing brainstorming into categories. HW: finish organizing ideas

5 TDA Station Day 5: Finding Evidence
Find three pieces of evidence you’re considering to use to prove each claim.  Decide which piece(s) to use in your TDA – use ideas of the group to help! HW: choose best piece of evidence

6 TDA Station Day 6: Outlining
Take the information you’ve gathered and begin to outline your TDA. I'd suggest jotting down main ideas like we did in class.  Start with your thesis and body paragraphs. Save the broad statement for last.  HW: none

8 TDA Station Day 7: Outlining and Begin Drafting
Once you’ve finished your outline, begin drafting your TDA. I suggest this is done on the computer. Make a Word document in Office 365, so it automatically saves! HW: finish outline

9 TDA Station Day 8: Drafting
Finish drafting your TDA. Make sure you’ve hit all the elements and provided enough background explanation and evidence explanation.  HW: finish rough draft

10 TDA Station Day 9: Revisions
I like revising on a hard copy with sticky notes.  Please print a copy of your TDA if you like this method, too.  Review the revisions check list. Other ideas to consider: Color code TDA/check formatting Highlight first word – vary transitions Read aloud Group members trade – look for missing background info and explanation! HW: none

11 TDA Station Day 10: Revisions and Final Edits
Review the revisions check list. Other ideas to consider: Color code TDA/check formatting Highlight first word – vary transitions Read aloud Group members trade – look for missing background info and explanation!  Final edits – Do you have complete sentences? Is the format correct?  HW: Print TDA and complete self-grading

Get your paper graded in person with Mrs. Hughes! Bring with you to grade: Final copy Rubric Planning materials – brainstorm, organize outline While you wait, begin brainstorming newsletter ideas.

13 Newsletter Station Day 1: Brainstorming and Information
Brainstorm ideas with group of what to write about for this month’s newsletter. Break into two groups with chosen topics and list research questions. HW: research questions

14 Newsletter Station Day 2: Researching and Drafting
Research any information that is needed. Begin drafting articles. HW: finish drafting

15 Newsletter Station Day 3: Revise and Publishing
Work together to revise article. Publish to Smore and complete newsletter rubric.  HW: publish articles and turn in newsletter rubric

16 Grammar Station Day 1: Grammar PSSA Practice Packet
Go through and answer each question in the Grammar PSSA Practice Packet. Once done, log on to OneNote and check answers with the Grammar PowerPoint under Station Rotation tab. Fill out grammar reflection. Research answers online as needed. Chomp Chomp, Shmoop, and Khan Academy are great website resources.  HW: none

Day 1: Short Story Rewrite Choose one short story to read and analyze the figurative language. Complete all activities in packet and turn in to in-bin when completed. Use resources if you don't know a type of figurative language. HW: complete story packet This gets turned in!
