Mental Disorders Depression Obsessive Compulsive Bipolar Seasonal Affective Schizophrenia Post Traumatic Stress Phobia Anxiety Panic ADD/ADHD Hypochondria

Anxiety Disorder Anxiety is a disorder in which real, imagined or persistent fears prevent a person from enjoying live. General anxiety is chronic, exaggerated worry about everyday, routine life events

Anxiety Disorders Phobias are irrational fears which can get in the way of leading a normal life. Panic Disorder is characterized by panic attacks, feelings of terror that happen without warning

Anxiety Disorders Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is repeated, intrusive, and unwanted thoughts or rituals that seem impossible to control Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms occur after experiencing a trauma a natural disaster or extreme violence

Insomnia Tourette’s Syndrome The inability to get the amount of sleep needed to function efficiently during the day. This may be associated with depression, person’s lifestyle or an organic disease Tourette’s Syndrome A neurologic syndrome that causes tics that are sudden, rapid, recurrent, non-rhythmic, purposeless movements or vocalization.

Depression The symptoms interfere with the ability to work, sleep, eat and enjoy once-pleasurable activities. Warning signs can be: Poor performance in school, withdrawal from friends and activities Sadness and hopelessness, lack of enthusiasm, anger and rage Overreaction to criticism, poor self-esteem or guilt, problems with authority Substance abuse, restlessness and agitation, suicidal thoughts or actions

Manic-depressive Illness (Bipolar disorder) This disorder of the brain involves episodes of serious mania and depression. The person's mood usually swings from overly “happy” and irritable to sad and hopeless with period of normal mood in between

Hypochondria A belief of an illness when none is present. If there is a disease, the person feels as though they have it.

Attention Deficit (ADD) is characterized by the inability to stay focused. The person is easily distracted. Attention deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD) inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. The person has a hard time containing their energy levels.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a condition marked by seasonal depression, primarily affecting females. Schizophrenia A serious brain disorder, which affects how a person think, feels, and acts. It is difficult for a person to tell the difference between real and imagined experiences, or to think logically.

Autism Is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills.

Asperger Syndrome is often considered a high functioning form of autism. It can lead to difficulty interacting socially, repeat behaviors, and clumsiness.
