Aim: What are the expectations for English 8 Aim: What are the expectations for English 8? Do Now Complete the provided “Know Your Teachers” Test Homework Bring in your copy of A Sudden Silence. Summer Reading Test is on FRIDAY

Classroom Rules Classroom Rules Students must be seated and ready to work when the bell rings. Any late students must have a pass. Students must behave appropriately and respect others at all times. Students must come prepared to class every day with the required materials—loose leaf paper, pens, books, homework. The school’s cell phone policy applies in our classroom. Any phones in sight during the period will be confiscated.

Required Materials A large green binder with loose leaf paper 4 dividers A folder Pens or pencils The work of literature we’re reading in class

Your Grade Tests Quizzes Homework Participation 50% 30% 10%

Homework Homework is checked on a regular basis. Students are responsible for meeting the teacher in regards to missing work. If you are absent, arrange a time to discuss what you’re missing and how it can be made up. At the end of the marking period, any missing work will not receive credit.

Homework Late homework will not be accepted for a grade.

Participation Participation is a considerable part of your grade. As a member of our classroom, you are required to participate in our discussions and activities.

Setting Goals for this year 1) Write down three personal goals you have for this year in English. 2) Write down three goals for this class. Which subjects do you want to cover? What types of assignments do you want to do? What should we learn by the end of the year? What should we accomplish as a class?
