Welcome to Geography What is Geography? Why is Geography important? How do geographers describe and explain a place? What physical and human features make places different?

Geography is the study of the people and places of Earth. What is Geography? Geography is the study of the people and places of Earth.

Why is Geography important? Geography explains the forces that shape the land, and explores the connections between living things and their environment.

How do geographers describe and explain a place? They ask three questions: Where is it? Why is it there? What is it like there?

What physical and human features make places different? Physical Features include: mountains, valleys, bodies of water, plants, animals, soil, wind, and rain. Human features include: language, foods, jobs, beliefs, and buildings.
