Home learning JANUARY 2017

Why do we want to change home learning at curdworth primary? To make Our home learning at curdworth consistent. The parent questionnaire undertaken last term showed home learning is a concern for some parents. We want children at curdworth primary to be excited, independent learners. We want to engage parents in their children’s learning.

What will home learning look like at curdworth primary? Each child will have their own home learning log. It will contain topic related home learning at the front of the log and maths home learning at the back of the log. Children will complete one piece of topic and one piece of maths homework each week.

Encourage different family members to use their skills to support children…

Tell us about visits and trip you have been on…

Be creative and have fun!

We look forward to putting excellent home learning on display

Over to you… Think about your skills– how could you help your child to be a creative learner at home?

Maths home learning will be stuck in the back of the home learning log. This might be a work sheet, an activity, a challenge OR a link to a Mathletics activity. We also encourage children to enjoy mathletics activities as much as possible.

Marking home learning Each week the teacher will check the home learning books and mark it with a tick. At the end of the half term the children and teACHER WILL COMPLETE THE PROJECT SLIP.

Points to REMEMBER: Home learning LOGS will be GIVEN OUT ON FRIDAYS. LOGS WILL NEED TO BE HANDED IN THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY. Children chOOSE ONE TASK OFF THE TOPIC MENU EACH WEEK AND COMPLETE IT AT THE FRONT OF YOUR LOG. MATHS HOME LEARNING will be AT THE BACK OF YOUR LOG OR THERE WILL BE A MATHLETICS TASK. BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN!

The main changes will be: Home learning will be consistent . Children will have the opportunity to be creative. Parents will be more informed about what children have been learning, because home LEARNING will be based upon their current tOPIC. parents have more opportunity to engage with their children’s home LEARNING.
