HIGHER - ABILITY EXPECTED STANDARD GRADE 1 0R 2 – INCLUDING 2 IN BOTH READING AND WRITING INTERMEDIATE 2 PASS

INTERMEDIATE 2 – LEVEL EXPECTED STANDARD GRADE 2 WITH 3 IN READING OR WRITING STANDARD GRADE 3 INTERMEDIATE 1 PASS

HIGHER/INTERMEDIATE 2- CONTENT OF COURSE UNIT 1 – LANGUAGE STUDY UNIT 2 – LITERARY STUDY

HIGHER/INTERMEDIATE 2 – INTERNAL ASSESSMENT LANGUAGE STUDY – ONE CLOSE READING (EXAM CONDITIONS; 1 HOUR) AND - ONE PIECE OF WRITING (ONGOING WITHIN THE COURSE) LITERARY STUDY – ONE TEXTUAL ANALYSIS (EXAM CONDITIONS; 45 MINUTES)

HIGHER/INTERMEDIATE 2 – EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT CLOSE READING – Higher - TWO PASSAGES WITH QUESTIONS (1 HOUR 45 MINUTES) - Int 2 – ONE PASSAGE WITH QUESTIONS (1 Hour) CRITICAL ESSAY – TWO CRITICAL ESSAYS (1 HOUR 30 MINUTES) FOLIO OF WRITING – TWO PIECES OF WRITING (W1,W2), SENT TO SQA IN APRIL AND MARKED EXTERNALLY. FOLIO IS 20% OF YOUR OVERALL GRADE.

JUNE Introduction to Close Reading skills (2 periods a week) – focus on Understanding, Analysis and Evaluation. Introduction to Creative Writing (4 periods) Introduction to Reflective Writing (4 periods) Introduction to Discursive/Persuasive Writing (4 periods)

EXPECTATIONS AND HOLIDAY WORK By the end of term you will have completed two outline plans – 1 for each type of writing. The following must be completed and handed in on 17th August 2010 Two detailed plans – one for each type of writing.
