What if I don’t pass an assessment? If you do not pass an assessment a number of things might happen; 1)Your assessment will be returned and you will be given extra time to bring it up to standard (only for Creative or Expressive writing). 2)You will be reassessed at a later date 3)You have a total of 3 opportunities to pass your Nabs.

External Assessment If you pass all the internal assessments, you will sit an exam in May. The exam comprises; Paper 1: Close Reading: one passage followed by questions: 60 minutes Paper 2: Literary Study: textual analysis on an unseen poem, rose or drama extract and a critical essay: 90 minutes

Dreaded Deadlines! The course you are embarking on is very demanding and it is important that you do not fall behind. Therefore certain deadlines have been created which you must keep to. These deadlines are part of the internal assessment and failure to keep to them may result in a student being failed in that part of the course.

Assessment You will sit an assessment on the 18 th of June. This is to make sure you are in the right class and to prepare you for Nabs.

By the end of June you should have chosen your text for your personal study in consultation with your teacher. By the end of the summer holidays you should have read your text and made detailed notes. You should be prepared to sit your Personal Study Assessment in October.

Some Questions Answered… What will I need to buy/find? A ring binder file A good dictionary and thesaurus A copy of your chosen personal Study text(s) A copy of Death of A Salesman by Arthur Miller.

How much homework will I receive? You will be expected to read and make notes on your personal study text(s) over the summer. You will need to spend a minimum of 2 hours per week completing work for English at home. You will need to be thoroughly familiar with your set texts and spend time redrafting your folio essay.
