Writing: Writing complete sentences Science: Weather Math: Using manipulatives to model addition Addition strategies Leader in Me: Leadership Notebook Introduction & writing a mission statement A Note From Your Teacher… Homework Folders: A 2-pocket folder will come home nightly and is required to come back the following day. This is where I will send home important information and homework packets. Please keep the behavior calendar and decodable reader in the pocket every night. Sight Words: Please help your student practice his/her sight word list daily. Once he/she can read the list fluently by sight, please sign and return to school. Students will be tested and then will receive the next list. Decodable Reader: A decodable reader in a manila envelope will stay in your child’s homework folder each night. This is a book that should be a great tool to help improve your child’s reading. Read the book with your child until they can read it fluently. The book will be exchanged approximately 2 times a week for a new book. Nonsense Words: On the back of this newsletter, you will find a list of nonsense words. Please practice reading these words fluently with your child a couple times a week! The more practice, the better!
