What is the definition of a Citizen? National! State Local Me! Layers!

Are you a citizen if you are born on a plane In the United States, even a child born in the country's waters or airspace is a U.S. citizen by birth in accordance with the principle of jus soli (right of the soil) -- that's the right of anyone born in the territory of a state to nationality or citizenship.

Are you a US citizen if you’re born in international waters? Generally if the baby is born in international waters (or in the airspace above international waters), the child takes the citizenship of the mother.

What if only one of your parents is a citizen? In many circumstances, even though a child is born outside the United States, if at least one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of the child's birth, the child automatically "acquires" citizenship. When this child marries and has children, those children may also acquire U.S. citizenship at birth.

What if you’re born in a US territory? YES you are a citizen

What if you’re born on a military base? YES if you’re parents are citizens

What if you’re born on a border? Depends on the two countries

Are you illegally in the US if you are not a citizen? No! You can be legally in the Us and not a citizen. You can have either a Visa: Permission to be in the us for a limited amount of time for travel, work, education Greencard: You are a lawful permanent resident, but you can’t vote in federal elections (like presidential)
