San Cristobal island Island Isabela Island Fernandina

Click a picture to see more images of it and a super fact if it’s highlighted with a black border. San Cristobal island San Cristobal Island is combined of 3 or 5 fused volcanoes, all extinct-meaning they can not blow up with lava. Darwin arrived here in 1835. This island is home to frigate birds; Galapagos sea lions; giant tortoises; giant sea turtles; blue footed booby birds and red footed booby birds; tropicbirds; marine iguanas; dolphins; and swallow tailed gulls. In the waters nearby are sharks, rays, and lobsters. Say hello to the blue footed booby bird. The booby bird is just under 3ft tall and about 5ft long wingspan. There ritual for mating is a very strange ritual. The male lifts one foot in the air and then the other one-they continue doing this in front the female. This makes it look like the male booby bird is dancing so they impress the female booby bird. The population on San Cristobal was 185,917 in 2010; that’s a lot! Click to return

The blue footed booby is an average 81cm long and weighs 1 The blue footed booby is an average 81cm long and weighs 1.5kg, with the female weighing slightly more than the male. Click to return to San Cristobel.

Island Isabela This island crosses through the equator of our planet Earth .It was originally called Albemarle after the duke of Albemarle. It is almost4 times as tall as Santa Cruz. The land iguana is the animal of this slide. The Galapagos iguana is a species of lizard in the family Iguanidae. Charles Darwin described the Land Iguana as “ugly animals of a yellowish orange beneath and of a brownish red colour above; from their low facial angle they have a singularly stupid appearance!” These are Darwin's words not mine . Island Isabela is one of the youngest islands in the Galapagos area. Isla Isabela has a rough estimation of 2,200 population. Click to return

The Land Iguana resembles the mythical creature of dragons with long tails and razor sharp teeth.

Island Fernandia Fernandina is the 3rd largest island in Galapagos islands and the youngest island of them all. Like the others the Island was formed by the Galapagos hotspot. Fernandina has an area of 642km.
