2 As this island is slowly dying and producing less and less vegetation, rocky landscapes and huge bays are forming creating a substantial habitat for Galapagos sea lions. Because of this the number of Galapagos sea lions sighted on the island are increasing, which is a great thing for these creatures and tourists. 3 Diet: Galapagos sea lions live mainly on a diet of the common and highly populated sardine. These creatures come by the bucketful when you are a Galapagos sea lion as these creatures use a cunning strategy to secure there stomachs from getting agitated due to hunger. Prey and predators: Unfortunately sardines are not the only prey in the sea. Sometimes if the sea lions see it as necessary they will take trips over 10-15 kilometres for food. For these animals this trip can sometimes take days and leads them to the main area where there predators lie. Sharks and killer whales. These to huge predators like nothing more than a tasty Galapagos sea lion that just walks into there path. Click here to return to the main map: Galapagos sea lions

4 Having an area of 4640 square metres Isla Isabela is the largest of the many islands that make up the Galapagos islands. Being thee largest Isla Isabela is home to a vast variety of species making it a phenomenally important place to visit as a tourist. Being the largest, Isla Isabela is the most populated island. This place may seem like a great place to live as it has many environmental wonders and the thought of seeing sea lions everyday seems outstanding but many experts are worried what would happen to the creatures and animals if it gets further populated. Unfortunately these events could be catastrophic to the environment as soon there habitat shall be destroyed by us. Click here to find out more about the wildlife on this island. Isla Isabela

5 Animals of Isla Isabela: Galapagos Penguin. Marine iguanas. Lava Lizards. Click here to return to main map. Animals of Isla Isabela

6 Galapagos Penguins are some of the most amazing creatures on Earth. These creatures are the only penguins to live in a hot environment. There long beaks prove the theory of evolution that long ago came across Charles Darwin's mind many years ago. There beaks have become longer to adapt to there environment, this is one way that scientists use to identify them. Another mystery these penguins bring with them is the fact that the Galapagos islands stretch across the equator making them a very hot environment for penguins. Why did they choose here? 7 Along with the Galapagos penguin marine iguanas are also one of a scientific wonder that proves Darwin's theory of evolution. These creatures are the only iguanas to hunt under water scientists reckon they adapted to swim under water when their numbers rapidly increased leaving a shortage of food. They are now able to dive up to depths of nine metres under water where they eat the algae on the sea bed. It is still a wonder that these creatures found a whole new world of food under water and scientists all over the world are still pondering on the question: how did they discover this scientific marvel. 8 Lava lizards are one of the most common animals on the Galapagos islands. They are virtually everywhere. These creatures may not be as exciting as the marine iguana but many say that you can not leave without seeing these amazing creatures. Quite commonly these animals come with splashes of red or orange on their skin this does not symbol a species, they are just common marks on these lizards. Click here to return to main map.
