Pursuing Love In The Body Love One Another Pursuing Love In The Body

Love First James 2:8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well 1 John 3:11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Love First 1 Peter 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

Love First John 15:9-12 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."

Why does God put such an emphasis on “love one another?” Love First DO YOU SEE THE PATTERN? (James 2:8; 1 John 3:11; Romans 13:8; 1 Peter 1:22; John 15:9-12) “LOVE ONE ANOTHER” Why does God put such an emphasis on “love one another?”

WE DON’T COME BY IT NATURALLY! 1 John 4:7-11 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

WE DON’T COME BY IT NATURALLY! Col. 3:5-10 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…

Love First

WHY DO WE HAVE TROUBLE DOING IT? Because we start with and put emphasis on receiving love and not giving love. 1 Jn. 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 Jn. 4:19 We love Him because He first loved us. We didn’t become Christians because we first loved God! We were recipients first of God’s love and then the church. We must be givers and not just recipients!

Love First 1 John 4:16-17 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.”

“Love one another as I have loved you” APPLICATION There will be times, as a Christian, that you’ll feel unappreciated, not loved, and taken for granted. What do you do? “Love one another as I have loved you” John 15:12
