1 FACTORS IN SALVATION HEBREWS 5:8-9

2 Salvation is the most important subject that anyone can talk about.
It means Pardon Forgiveness Redemption How is a person saved? The Bible teaches that there are several contributing factors to our salvation.

3 God Is The Original Factor
Man cannot save himself. Jeremiah 10: I know, O Lord, the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. Proverbs 14: There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. God’s love prompted Him to save man.

4 Without God’s love and mercy there would be no salvation.
John 3: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” Romans 5: But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Without God’s love and mercy there would be no salvation.

5 He is the sacrificial factor.
Christ Is A Factor He is the sacrificial factor. The shedding of blood is necessary. Hebrews 9: And according to the law almost all things are purged with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Hebrews 10: For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Christ became our sacrifice. Romans 5: For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

6 His blood is the procuring factor.
Ephesians 5: And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Hebrews 9: He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. His blood is the procuring factor. I John 1: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. Ephesians 1: In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

7 Christ’s name is the authoritative factor.
Romans 5: Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Christ’s name is the authoritative factor. Colossians 3: And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Acts 4: "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.'' Without the sacrifice of Christ there would be no salvation.

8 The Holy Spirit Is the Revealing Factor.
Ephesians 3: How that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I wrote before in a few words, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: I Corinthians 2: But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

9 The Word Is A Factor In Our Salvation.
The Spirit gives us the word and from the word we learn what to do to be saved. The Word Is A Factor In Our Salvation. Romans 1: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. James 1: Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. Without the Holy Spirit and the Word He has revealed there would be no salvation.

10 Faith Is A Factor In Our Salvation We cannot please God without faith.
Hebrews 11: But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are to live by faith. We are saved by faith. II Corinthians 5: For we walk by faith, not by sight. Galatians 2: I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Mark 16: He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

11 Obedience is a factor in our salvation.
But not by faith alone. James 2: You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Obedience is a factor in our salvation. Romans 6: But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I Peter 1: Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, Hebrews 5: And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.

12 Hope Is The Sustaining Factor In Our Salvation
We hope in Christ. I Corinthians 15: If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most to be pitied. We are saved by hope because it keeps us faithful. Romans 8: For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, then we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Hebrews 6: This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,
