1 Victorious Faith 1 John 5:1-6

2 The Importance of Faith
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 1 John 5:1

3 The Importance of Faith
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4 The Importance of Faith
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

5 The Importance of Faith
Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ John 3:1-7

6 The Importance of Faith
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

7 The Importance of Faith
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Romans 5:6-9

8 The Importance of Faith
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away,

9 The Importance of Faith
25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:22-25

10 The Importance of Faith
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 1 John 5:2

11 The Importance of Faith
If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 1 John 5:16

12 The Importance of Faith
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11

13 The Importance of Faith
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

14 The Investigation of Faith
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 1 John 5:1

15 The Investigation of Faith
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us—

16 The Investigation of Faith
that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:1-3

17 The Investigation of Faith
Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22

18 The Investigation of Faith
By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 1 John 4:2

19 The Investigation of Faith
Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” Luke 24:44

20 The Investigation of Faith
Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:5

21 The Investigation of Faith
And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17

22 The Investigation of Faith
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” Matthew 17:5

23 The Investigation of Faith
If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 1 John 5:9-10

24 The Inevitable Victory
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5

25 The Inevitable Victory
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17

26 The Inevitable Victory
1. John uses this word more than any other N.T writer. 2. In each of the letters to the seven church of Asia is included the idea of overcoming. 3. The word literally means to carry off the victory.

27 Conclusion Other New Testament writers emphasize the importance of faith in becoming God’s children. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3:26-27

28 Conclusion 2. Faith is the essence of the Christian life.
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
